My first Personal Branding speaking gig!

The last six month’s have been an absolute whirlwind. I’ve crammed so much Social Media and Personal Branding knowledge into this brain of mine that I’ve been on the verge of bursting for the last month or so.

Tonight I will get my chance! I am speaking to the DigiCom Student Association at Houston Community College on Personal Branding and The Art behind the Personal Branding RockStars.

I. Am. So. Excited!

Check out my slides, let me know what you think! I always enjoy and learn from your comments :)

  2. Congrats! You'll do wonderful. And to think, a year ago this time you were making sure debutantes were happily pacified even though the prime rib was sliced too thin ;)

  3. Mags! Your slideshow is awesome. I wish my personal brand was as cheesy as yours (har har har)! Youre gonna knock em dead!

Also, come out to Cedar Creek later tonight for celebration drinks! I'll totally buy a round (kidding) and bring David.

(and kudos for not putting in a picture of a dude getting branded, because it's not a pretty process)

  10. Maggie, this is an excellent presentation. I like how you put spotlights on people who are doing it right. I hope they both know they were in this presentation (it's good networking). Anyways, I think presentation should be renamed to "Personal Branding in the Digital World" or something because what you're really talking about is how to use social media tools to get a brand presence online, instead of a more general perspective. Personal branding happens quicker online than offline, but offline does matter a lot. It's easier to connect and experience someone's brand when you can see, touch and speak to it.

  11. It is true. Once upon a time, this girl was a wedding planner. Sigh ;)

  12. Dan, thank you so much for the comments and for the advice. Your point about "Personal Branding in the Digital World" is well put. Personal brands have been around for a whole lot longer than the digital world, but now more than ever it is important to be consistent with your Personal Brand both online and off. I also agree about the importance of communication offline. I would die if the only time I had any contact with human beings was through a computer screen ;)

  14. Congratulations, great slide show, very powerful message! Generating enthusiasm for your product/brand online and offline 24/7/365 is so important. The trick is not to rest on you laurels, constantly maintain that brand image, today, tomorrow, next week and next year!

  19. Congratulations on the speaking gig! I hope it went awesome. I too am breaking into the social media scene and have given a few presentations in the SoCal area.

I actually just published an episode of FDTV about using blogging to develop your personal brand. You can check it out here.

Would love to hear your feedback on the video. If you're ever in the SoCal area, I would love to have you as a guest.

  20. Thank you!! I was a little nervous (ummmm… more than a little but that can be our secret) but I think it went really well. I love reaching out and teaching others what I have learned. This whole Personal Branding thing is SO MUCH fun and teaching people through my mishaps is always entertaining to say the least ;)

Awesome video!! You are correct…. the advice is SUPER concrete. I wish I was so confident when being filmed.
