The Orange Show’s Foam Raiser: the perfect combo of Food, Art and Beer

When I was little my Mom made a practice of doing cool, “intellectually stimulating” things with my sister and me. Several times we took day trips from Tomball to Houston to check out the Beer Can House on Malone.  My little sister and I LOVED these trips and it has definitely cultivated my love of the arts in Houston.  Combine that love with one of my fondest childhood memories and you’ll totally understand why I refuse to miss the first anual Foam Raiser for the Orange Show on Saturday, September 6.  Did I mention The Orange Show is the keeper of the keys to the legenday Beer Can House I love so much?

The Orange Show is a non-profit in Houston whose sole soul mission is to support the random, creative, fringe things that come from our city.  It’s from the Orange Show that we get the Art Car Festival, the Beer Can House, Hands on Art, Eyeopener Tours and countless other wacky things.

Next Saturday marks their inaugural Foam Raiser and I intend to be there.  I want to support the arts in Houston and the Orange Show in particular but I’m also looking forward to spending twenty bucks on a night of limitless Saint Arnold’s Beer and Amy’s Ice Cream.

The proceeds from this particular event benefit the Orange Show Concert Series, so besides beer and treats, I’m expecting there to be some really incredible beats happening–I know the Sideshow Tramps and The Grass Skirts will be there.

For more details, check out the Orange Show website.  I hope to see you next Saturday at the Orange Show on 2402 Mungar Street.  The festivities kick off at 7 pm!
